Pakistani women have long been excluded from the economic, social, civil, religious, and political spheres of human rights. In addition to being denied access to education, they are also denied the ability to make decisions regarding their marriages and divorces. Abuse is frequently exacerbated: impoverished women and girls are trafficked and subjected to forced prostitution, forced marriage, or exploitative labor practices including bounded labor. In Pakistan, discrimination against women and girls is reflected in these deprivations. Traditional gender relationships frequently stand in the way of women’s equality and advancement.
